Benn Steil er ekspert på internasjonal økonomi ved Council on Foreign Relations (der han er Director of International Economics).
Han har skrevet flere bøker. Den siste boken er "The World That Wasn’t: Henry Wallace and the Fate of the American Century" (Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster, 2024).
