Ian Buruma

Ian Buruma er en nederlandsk historiker. Han er professor i menneskerettigheter og journalistikk ved Bard College og tidligere redaktør i The New York Review of Books.

Ian Buruma har skrevet en rekke bøker, deriblant "Occidentalism: The West in the Eyes of Its Enemies", "Murder in Amsterdam: The Death of Theo Van Gogh and the Limits of Tolerance" og "Year Zero: A History of 1945". Den siste er "The Churchill Complex: The Curse of Being Special, From Winston and FDR to Trump and Brexit" (Penguin, 2020). Hans nyeste bok er Ian "The Collaborators: Three Stories of Deception and Survival in World War II" (Penguin Press, 2023).

I 2008 vant Buruma den internasjonale Ersamusprisen som deles ut til personer eller institusjoner som har levert viktige bidrag for å fremme europeisk kultur.

I både 2008 og 2010 ble han stemt inn på Foreign Policy/Prospect Magazines Topp 100 liste over offentlig intellektuelle.
